Canberra midfielder Lucas Meline has recommitted to the Demons' until the end of the 2020 NEAFL season.
Spending more time in the midfield in 2019, the 22-year-old has averaged 18.4 disposals, 3.4 marks and 4.2 intercepts per game, finishing the season with 10 goals.
Hailing from Leeton in rural NSW, Meline was recruited from the GWS GIANTS Academy in 2016, spending his 2016 season between the GIANTS and Canberra in the NEAFL.
The midfielder said he was excited to continue his career in the Demons' program.
"I’m really happy to be signing on with Canberra for another year,” Meline said.
“There’s an exciting feeling amongst the group at the moment, so I’m pumped to be remaining a Demon next season.”
"As a club we have been growing every season since I first moved up four years ago and I'm excited to see where this club can go next year and into the future."
"I couldn’t ask for a better bunch of mates to run out with on the field each week, which made the decision to sign on easy."
Canberra General Manager of Football Shaun Young said it was important to put pen to paper on a contract extension for Meline.
“We’re delighted Lucas has signed on with the club, not only is he a wonderful young man, but he has been developing into the promising midfielder we knew he would become,” Young said.
“We have a great mix of youth and experience in our playing group and we’re pleased Lucas will remain an important part of that.”
