Esteemed forward Aaron Bruce will remain as captain of the Canberra Demons in 2019.
The 29-year-old played six seasons with Eastlake's NEAFL side, before joining Canberra as a foundation player in 2016.
Bruce, Canberra’s record games holder said it was a "special honour" to be selected as leader for the third consecutive year, having held the position since 2017.
"The support and feeling of the whole club behind you is a wonderful feeling for any player, whether that be as a player running out on to the field every week or in my case to be backed in as Captain for another season," he said.
"For me this is a special, special honour and one that I will look back on very fondly when father time catches up with me at the end of my career."
The news of Bruce’s re-election was announced on Monday night at the group’s pre-season training session, with the remainder of Canberra's 2019 leadership group to be unveiled at the club's season launch on March 27th.
Following Canberra's record breaking 2018 campaign Bruce said his side still has plenty to improve on ahead of their round 1 clash with the Gold Coast.
"I am extremely positive with the pre-season period the group has put together, the volume of work the guys have gotten through and the way the new additions are shaping up."
"We still have a lot of work to do over the next month before round 1 when we will play a Gold Coast outfit who will be absolutely firing coming straight off an AFL pre-season, however our group is confident of improving again in 2019."
Having taken the club's sole captaincy following Jordan Harper's departure in 2017, Bruce admits whilst he's not the perfect leader he'll be content leaving the club in a better position than when he first arrived.
"I think that one of my skills is that I am a strong communicator who is continuing to strive for improvement and development."
"I have long ago acknowledged that I am far from perfect and my goal as a person and a member of the Canberra Demons family is to leave the organisation in a better place when I decide to finish up, than from when I started."
Canberra kick-start their 2019 pre-season campaign on Thursday night against the GWS GIANTS at Gungahlin Enclosed Oval.
