Former Adelaide Crow Sam Martyn has put pen to paper on a one-year contract extension that will see him remain a Demon until at least the end of the 2019 NEAFL season.
The 25-year-old was recruited from the Adelaide Crows in 2016 and has since become a mainstay in the Canberra defence.
Martyn moved to South Australia when he finished school and while he never realised his AFL dream, spent two years on the Crows' list developing his craft with Woodville West Torrens in the SANFL before signing on as a Canberra foundation player in 2016.
"Since 2016, the club has made huge steps forward in developing its culture and procuring the best possible players and coaches, which is evident in the performances so far this season.
"The current setup gives players every opportunity to perform at their optimum week in and week out.
"I have a massive belief in the environment that Shaun and Kade have created, hence why I’m looking forward to seeing what we can achieve throughout the rest of 2018 and beyond."
"We have a young and exciting playing group that has become really close. After a few lean years, success is just around the corner and I want to be apart"
Martyn will be in action this Saturday afternoon when Canberra clash with Sydney University at Manuka Oval.
