Canberra have secured the signatures of Josh Maynard, Billy Clark, Donald Roberts and Guy Richardson for the 2020 NEAFL season.
Recruited from Ainslie in early 2019, Maynard played 14 games for the Demons' this season, with General Manager of Football Shaun Young telling canberrademons.com.au the club was excited to secure Maynard's signature for another year.
"Josh had a terrific year at Ainslie in the AFL Canberra competition last year and his form quickly transitioned into the NEAFL," said Young.
"For someone of his height he is extremely athletic, and we look forward to him continuing to bring a competitive edge to our midfield."
Clark, 19, joined Canberra from the GWS GIANTS Academy in 2019, playing 3 games in his debut campaign.
“Billy is a young man who really impressed us with the way he goes about his football", Young said.
"His work ethic and training habits have been exceptional and we look forward to him again contributing throughout the course of next season."
Roberts, a Canberra player since the club’s inception in 2016, endured an injury interrupted season, limited to just 6 NEAFL games in 2019.
“It's great to have Don extend his contract as he has worked hard to overcome his injury issues in his return to our team,” Young said.
“He is a strong presence in our group and we look forward to his ongoing contribution with us.”
Richardson, a former member of both the AFL and GWS GIANTS Academy, narrowly missed out on draft selection in 2018, and re-signs with Canberra to further his aspirations of playing at AFL level. “We’re delighted that Guy will continue his career with Canberra for at least another year,” Young said.
“He has demonstrated an ability to play a number of roles at NEAFL level and we expect him to continue to develop and push for an AFL opportunity in the future."
