A trio of key Demons will face fitness tests this week ahead of Canberra's clash with Redland at Manuka Oval on Saturday afternoon.
Aaron Bruce (Foot), Angus Baker (Illness) and Tom Highmore (Calf) were all late withdrawals for the game against Sydney Uni and will be required to undertake fitness tests during the week before being cleared to return to action.
“Aaron was a late withdrawal for Saturday's match, we gave him every opportunity to play but unfortunately didn’t come up, he’ll be a test at the end of this week,” Head of Football Shaun Young told canberrademons.com.au.
“Angus is still dealing with illness that led him to not take the field on Saturday, we expect Angus to recover from his illness and be available for selection this week”.
“Tom received a knock on his leg in the game against Aspley, there was no structural damage which is fantastic.
"Tom will need to pass a fitness test this week to be eligible for selection, but we expect him to be right to run out against Redland,” Young said.
Mitch Maguire (Hamstring), was close to playing this week but we felt it was in his and the team’s best interest to sit out of the Sydney Uni game, we expect him to return this weekend against Redland” Young said.
“Jack Powell (Hamstring), is recovering well and will need to undertake a fitness test this week in order to be available for selection against Redland”
Riley Budd was rested last week due to back spasms, “Riley should be eligible for selection this week” Young said.
Meanwhile, Ben Halse is still under an injury cloud as he manages a groin injury, Ben is unlikely to play.
