When Canberra utility Donald Roberts runs out for Saturday's clash with Sydney University, it will come as a reminder that good things come to those who wait and put in the hard work.
The 21-year-old will notch up his 50th NEAFL game when Canberra meet the Students' at the Blacktown International Sportspark on Saturday afternoon.
Debuting for Eastlake in 2015, the former GWS GIANTS Academy product says his 50th game has been a long time coming.
"With all the set backs and injuries over the past two years it’s been hard to break in to the side but I’m really excited for this weekend," he told canberrademons.com.au.
"It’s been a long time coming."
One of the club's foundation players, Roberts says the milestone is one he is proud of.
"It’s an achievement I’m really proud of, I've loved the progression of the program since it started, and it's only becoming stronger," he said.
"Being there from the start and watching the program evolve makes occasions like this so much more special."
Having not featured for Canberra since April, Roberts recognises his milestone and comeback game will run a distant second to helping the club get there season back on track.
"It'll be a great game and test for us," he said.
"Tomorrow's game doesn’t get much bigger then the rivalry we have with Uni and for me it’s making sure I play my role and enjoy the occasion, I’m really excited."
Canberra face Sydney University at Blacktown International Sportspark tomorrow afternoon, with the first bounce scheduled for 12pm AEST.
