The Canberra Demons have produced a fourth NEAFL Rising Star nominee this season after Jarrod Osborne’s best-on-ground performance on Saturday.
The 20-year-old midfielder was prominent in the Demons’ draw with Sydney University at Phillip Oval, collecting 30 disposals, six marks, five tackles and a goal in the 15.13 (103) to 15.13 (103) result.
Osborne was a member of the Swans Academy for nine years before he signed with Canberra ahead of the 2018 season.
Prior to his time with the Demons, the dynamic midfielder was named Sydney’s Most Valuable Player for his performances in the 2017 AFL Academy Series and was later rewarded with selection into the Allies squad.
He moved to Canberra to begin the next phase of his senior career, where he also earned a NEAFL Rising Star nomination last season with a breakout performance against Redland in Round 15.
Osborne joins Canberra teammates Angus Baker, Connor Owen-Auburn and Rhys Pollock as nominees for the award in 2019.
The NEAFL Rising Star is awarded to the most promising young talent in the NEAFL competition.
Nominees must be under the age of 21 and played less than 20 senior games (excluding games as AFL club academy players) at the start of the 2019 season. 2019 NEAFL Rising Star Nominees
