Team Selection | Swan named for NEAFL return

Andrew Swan, Canberra’s much-loved vice-captain, will make his return to the NEAFL against Sydney University on Saturday afternoon.

A knee reconstruction kept the 26-year-old on the sidelines for the past year, after he ruptured his anterior cruciate ligament for the second time last season.

Andrew Swan will make his NEAFL return after 393 days after rupturing his ACL.

The former Queanbeyan Tiger first ruptured his ACL six years ago and opted to have Ligament Advanced Reinforcement System (LARS) surgery because of the quicker recovery time.

But the artificial ligament used began to fail midway through last season, forcing Swan to undergo a traditional reconstruction.

Swan will be joined by Alex Paech, Jarrod Osborne and Kel Evans, who all return following stints on the sideline whilst Billy Clark has been recalled following his impressive form in the AFL Canberra competition.

Midfielders Mitch Maguire and Jack Powell are expected to miss only one week with "low hamstring" injuries, with teammate Ben Halse ruled out after suffering a groin injury last weekend.

Luke Jamieson and Nick Eynaud have been omitted

Canberra will be looking to atone for their most recent performance against Aspley, falling to a 80-point defeat at Voxson Oval.
